Mark of the destiny

A Cheshire grin

A Cheshire grin

[Such a good day it was!]

Song Xianxi received a text message that raised the corner of his lips. It was the code text for the successful completion of the mission. His eyes glinted victoriously.

'My son had left the country safely, dad's property is in my hands and Zhao Suyin is dead! God's definitely in my favor these days!'

Accidents happen daily, there's nothing new. Wang Shi made sure to keep the news of the tunnel accident filtered out, leaving Xianxi confused why the news of Suyin's death didn't surface over. He wanted to send his men to get an update, but the risk involved prohibited him.

Maybe waiting for a day was a better idea, who knows if police were still investigating everything. Or maybe something else. Anyway, other than waiting, he had no other option.

[According to the Chinese tradition, those who live past the age of ninety are honored with a wake of seven days. Waiting this long before cremation shows respect for the person. As long as the body is present, the spirit can benefit from gifts, speeches, and songs. After cremation, the spirit is cut off from the physical world.] [Source- Google master]

The silence dwelled. People from the business and politics gathered at the Song's old house to pay their last respects and provide sympathy to the family. It was a duel loss for them.

The hall should maintain silence. People should only whisper. But echoing down the marble floor were footsteps. Each footstep clattered, rudely awakening the mourners. How can someone be this bold? Well, she is! Because the queen was here to take the stage and wreak havoc.

Following her were two bodyguards holding flower wreaths each. Ignoring the shocked Song Xianxi and Zhao Feiyan, she walked her way to Elder Song's coffin and offered flowers.

People alternated their gaze between her and the Song couple, whispering.

Next, they saw her move towards the photo of Song Kun, assuming she'd do the same. But to everyone's surprise, she took out a marker from her handbag, strike the date of death, and replaced it with a new date. "Now it's correct. You can thank me later, Mr. Song. Oops! You are a thankless person, I'm sure you don't know how to do that."

"I'll-bred! Your parents forgot to teach you any manners."

"Mrs. Zhao, please learn some new lines. I'm bored now. Speaking of which, what have you learned from your parents? Conspiring? Spread hatred? Empoison? Or..... planning murders?"

Zhao Feiyan's face paled, she swallowed hard. "Rubbish. He was my father-in-law, why would I--"

"I didn't say a word about Elder Song," Suyin said as a matter of fact, sending another wave of shock in Zhao Feiyan's being. Even Song Xianxi frowned at his wife's words. She waved her hand, "I'll come back to you later. Enjoy your last peaceful minutes, maybe pray for your dead son while I talk to your husband."

"Miss. Zhao Suyin, be mindful of your language. This is not a place to create a ruckus, we've gathered here to pay respects to my late father and son," As always, Song Xianxi's was bang on maintaining his perfect image in front of the gathering. Isn't it obvious, he had been practicing it since the day he was born after all.

"Wow, paying respect after murdering him! From which school you have mastered hypocrisy?" Her eyes fell on Patriarch Zhao being wheeled by his assistant, Lee Sheng. "By the way, why do you still use the same method of getting someone murdered by a car accident? There are many other ways, like increasing the dose of beta-blockers in tea."

Song Xianxi's expression cracked, his muscle twitched involuntarily at the right eye. The women knew more than she should. He better silence her right away. Getting a signal, his men moved.

Who did they think the bodyguards with Suyin came from! They took a step forward in protection but Suyin extended her hands. "Are you sure about this? Do you think I've not come prepared here?" her eyes locked at Song Xianxi.

"My husband is innocent. You are threatening us by taking advantage of your position in the ministry." Zhao Feiyan snatched Lee Sheng's position behind Patriarch Zhao's wheelchair and wheeled him near her. Tears slipped from her eyes, "Can you not be this heartless, Suyin? Just be considerate of why we all have gathered here. Despite knowing what your parents did to my elder brother, I've always loved you and your brother. I didn't even say a word when dad gave everything to your father he asked for. I even got you married into a reputable family to make sure you get a wonderful future. I never asked you anything in return, yet you are making a scene at this time..... we've gathered here to pray for God's sake!"

"Dad--" tears burst forth like water from the dam, she dropped down near Patriarch Zhao's wheelchair and cried resting her head on his knees. "W-we didn't even say a word when she gave her shares to her husband and bankrupted us.... We paid money for her sick child.... then why? Why is she doing all this? How can someone be this cruel? How can her heart not cry for us?"

Patriarch Zhao was rooted. He wanted to side with his daughter, but Suyin still had the control over the program he wanted to get in. Earlier Si Han had said it will start in a week, but to his shock, the director had not called him again. Neither his tickets arrive.

Had she asked the director to pull him out of the program?

"Suyin, don't be this heartless--" the cold smile on Suyin's face that followed, forced Patriarch Zhao to swallow his words.

Suyin looked around once, just a few fake words and tears from Feiyan, and people made the entire story on their own.

...

Xianxi, "It was a secret between us. If I didn't do it, who else is left? Tell me, how did Zhao Suyin know the truth of her uncle Zhao Hede's death."

Guozhi, "It was not me, Xianxi."

Xianxi, "THEN HOW THE HELL SHE KNOW ABOUT IT? Don't forget, we both planned that accident. I wanted the Zhao's business, and you desired Zhao Hede's woman."

The voice caught everyone's attention as Suyin played the recording, loud and clear. Though she had the video of it, it'll be used for something else.

People failed to recognize who Xianxi was talking to, but they heard his name loud and clear. They stared at Suyin as if she had produced dinosaurs from her pocket.

The price expression was at Zhao Feiyan and Patriarch Zhao's faces. Suyin could imagine the sparks in their brain as they tried to connect all the dots, recalling every fuck*ing incident.

A Cheshire grin lit up Suyin's face. At that moment her motives were laid bare, she was the mocker today.
